What is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?
LLLT is a recognised international affective form of therapy for hair loss in men and women. This form of therapy uses low power lasers in a non-invasive manor on the scalp and beard. It is now an FDA approved procedure and has a success rate of more than 80%.
Considering Low Lever Laser Therapy treatment?
If you’re considering LLLT therapy for hair loss, we’ve answered a few of the most frequently asked questions below to help you decide whether this treatment is for you. If you’re unsure about what treatment might be best but are struggling with hair loss, we offer a free consultation with specific recommendations to suit your situation.
Does Low Lever Laser Therapy work?
There is very good scientific evidence that LLLT is effective in improving the thickness and fullness of hair, either as a stand-alone treatment or, even better, as a combination therapy (PRP, finasteride, minoxidil, hair transplant) to achieve the best results as part of a hair loss treatment program as dual or triple therapy acts synergistically.
Does it work better in men or women?
Unlike other hair treatment strategies LLLT is equally beneficial for women and men.
Am I suitable for LLLT?
In your first consultation, our specialist will clearly explain your expectations of the laser hair loss therapy treatment and ascertain whether you are suitable for it. At this point, you would also normally be asked to sign a consent form which means that you have understood the future benefits and possible risks associated with the procedure.
Photographs of the area to be treated may also be taken by the practitioner for a “before and after” comparison later.
How does Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for hair loss work?
LLLT works by stimulating stem cell proliferation and increasing blood circulation resulting in increasing the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. Repeat treatments are required for approximately 6 months depending on the extent of the hair loss. We can discuss more about the treatment upon your initial consultation where we will offer specific advice tailored to your hair loss.
What happens during the procedure?
During treatment the laser therapy machine sits over your head. The laser hood is a static device which holds a number of laser diodes. It looks exactly the same as a hooded dryer you see ladies sat under at the hairdressers. The diodes omit a specific wavelength and frequency (650nm) of light, delivering low level light therapy to the hair follicles. Our machine enables us to target the full scalp at once and multiple lasers are pointed at the most commonly effected areas for better results. The machine is also fully adjustable so you can sit comfortably during the experience.
How much does LLLT cost?
Prices for laser hair loss therapy start from £45 per session. The amount of therapy sessions required will depend on the extent of your hair loss, however we would normally recommend a six month treatment program for best results, with weekly visits to the clinic for laser treatment.
LLLT can be combined with other treatments to provide a bespoke package for your needs. We can advise on this during your initial free consultation.
